First Fruits Friday - God's Provision

“And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:8

Here at Seneca, God is our provider. We believe it and we see it every day when women in crisis come to our door and seek our help. Everyday, we encounter women with different needs - material, financial, spiritual and we are there for them.  As our sign outside of the building says: “You are not alone.” They are not alone, and Seneca is not alone either. God provides in miraculous ways every day, through so many Angels - our supporters and volunteers.

One of our Hispanic clients gave birth early last summer. When she was discharged from the hospital, she only had the baby gown that the hospital had dressed her baby in, and a couple of diapers. Funds in her household were low as she could not work during the last 2 months of her pregnancy. This mother attempted to get clothes for her baby but did not speak any English and could not find assistance. One day she heard about Seneca, and not knowing if she would be able to get help here, she used the little gas in her car to go to the other side of town and visit Seneca. When she arrived, she was welcome with open arms and was provided with everything she needed: Beautiful baby clothes, plenty of diapers, sanitary items, a much needed pacifier for her baby and what she needed the most at that particular moment…a hug from someone who told her, “You are not alone anymore, we are here for you, and God will provide.”

The Lord has supernatural provisions and at Seneca we have witnessed it!!!  He can create something that does not exist, for the sole purpose of providing for our need. Just as God gave bread in the desert and fed a multitude there with bread from heaven, God can pull resources out of nothing! This week, one of our clients was in dire need of one specific type of Formula and we did not have it, so we reached out for help on social media. In minutes, God provided!

How much people suffer believing that God is not going to do it!  Or, that he will do it, but not in time. So many people believe that they are going to sink before God's help comes to their lives.

“We ask your forgiveness, Lord, because of our fears and anxieties, because we are afraid that you will not be faithful and do not keep your word. We have become angry with you or with someone we expected help from. But today we proclaim that you are our provider. We declare that from your abundance we receive. Take your place in our lives, Lord. We are not going to speculate where you are going to get it from, because you have inexhaustible resources for your children. Take away our fears and our anxieties Father, and bless us, we ask you in the name of Jesus, Amen.”
