First Fruits Friday - The Gift of Life

In 2014, through my church, I learned about Seneca CFL and the wonderful work they do in our community. Since then, my family and I have been involved in events such as The March for Life, the 40 Days for Life, and volunteering myself as an interpreter for Hispanic moms who desperately needed Seneca’s help but language was a barrier. During that time, I witnessed how Seneca work truly impacts the lives of mothers who are in crisis!

Over two years ago my only daughter, Barbara, was diagnosed with Leukemia and she started her treatment at the Children’s Hospital in Atlanta. I remember receiving a handwritten card from our friends from Seneca and it felt like a hug from someone who really understood what a great gift life is.

Our journey with my daughter's illness has showed me and my family how precious life is.  In the hospital we have seen children fight the toughest battles to survive. Babies, toddlers and big kids - they all want to live! They want to be part of God’s creation, be part of their families and their spirits to fulfill their unique purpose in this world. What a gift Life is!!!!

My daughter is still in treatment and expected to finish it next month and to “ring the bell” in October (Praise God!).  She is thriving, growing, running, learning and getting more beautiful every day.  She is a busy girl!!

This week, when my children started their school year, I joined the Seneca CFL team. Now I am part of the front lines of this beautiful organization that has been an inspiration to me for so long. It is truly a dream job to me. As a Bilingual Case Manager, I hope to add value to Seneca's moms to help remove barriers from them and inspire them to be open to LIFE.  Now more than ever I know how valuable life is!!

May the children’s strength and courage during difficult battles be our inspiration to work by Seneca’s side, giving so many children in our community the opportunity to exist, to live and thrive in this beautiful world.
