First Fruits Friday - Life Without a Father

What would happen if you grew up without a Dad? What would your life be like if you never knew your Heavenly Father, God? What if you lived without both?

At Seneca, one thing that we do not see often is men. The father of the babies often encourage abortion, pay for it, drop the mother off, and driveway. Some say, "It's not my baby" and others say they will help,  but fade away in the background. Most of our Moms do NOT receive child support. Many of our moms grew up with dads in jail, some suffering addictions; while others never had a dad as a part of their lives.

Interestingly enough, these are the women who announce their faith boldly. They depend upon God, because perhaps no father figure existed. They cry out to their Heavenly Father in loneliness, fear, anger, sadness, and yes, joy.

God is our one true father. Some call him Father, others The Big Guy, others call him My friend. Whatever name you give God, one way you can talk to him is this:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive others. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.

Please pray this in honor of our Seneca clients who do not have dependable fathers on Earth for themselves or their children. For in Psalm 68:5 it says, “A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling.”

May Our Heavenly Father provide for these women and their families, transform the hearts of these absent fathers, and bless this new generation of babies with the strength and faith to end these cycles and build strong families.
