First Fruits Friday - A Look Back
Reflection from our Executive Director on the 1 year anniversary of the landmark Dobbs decision that overturned Roe vs. Wade.
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)
Just a year ago, on June 24, 2022, we received the wonderful news that unfettered abortion would no longer be the law of the land. That news brought us great hope at Seneca. We did not know what to expect, but as people of great faith, we knew God would work miracles in our midst.
As I reflect back over the past fiscal year (July/2022 - June/2023), I am amazed by all that God has done. He has worked miracle after miracle on the sidewalk and in the hearts and minds of so many women and men.
Despite the fact that we experienced an immediate 56% increase in abortions, the number of abortions are currently on a decline. Although we want to see an instant result of zero abortions, we feel it has been a blessing to witness this reduction as we offered hope and help to over 1,700 abortion-determined mothers in the past 12 months. The sheer number of moms who change their minds to save their baby, or are too far along and go home to think about it, has brought much gratitude and a deep renewal of hope within our team.
The new legal protections of the unborn have come at a cost:. We have experienced more spiritual attacks than ever before. However, in those attacks, we have also experienced growth of success like never before. Not only are mothers changing their minds on the sidewalk, many are allowing us to show them a window into the womb through our partnership with the mobile medical clinic team. We then have the pleasure of following up with those mothers in case management for up to two years after the birth of the baby.
Despite the blessed downturn in abortions next door, we are still in great need of more volunteers and ministry partners. The military’s needs often result in wonderful folks moving on. This has certainly been true for Seneca. As we gear up for this next fiscal year, in faith, we are making BIG plans for our growth. Our annual report shows what we accomplished and where we are going! Will you help us maximize the growth of our life-changing programs and eliminate the need for abortion in our community?
