First Fruits Friday - Partners in Christ
One thing that we attempt to do here at Seneca is to partner with other agencies to provide services for our clients. Over the holiday rush, we had the privilege to partner with Calvary Baptist and Central Baptist churches, both here in Columbus. In a whirlwind of setting up a home for one of our clients and her children, we were able to secure a safe house, toys, food and some furniture for them.
John and Sara Harris from Calvary Baptist initiated this partnership.
For months, Seneca has been in communication with them to begin a maternity home here serving mainly for unwed mothers. One of our ongoing prayers at Seneca is to establish a maternity home and now we are steps closer to making it come true.
The Harris family provided furniture, beds, sheets, and even a Christmas tree and toys for the family. Rick and Janice Messer, Antwan Hamilton, Nora Hamilton and Todd Quintard from Central Baptist helped to move furniture and to set up a new house and to get some food for the family. Two pastors who have a heart for helping others, Todd Quintard at Central Baptist and Ricky Smith from Calvary Baptist, assisted our client as well. Calvary Baptist helped pay for a hotel as a safe haven until Todd's group at Central could organize the home.
Now the family is settled in. The kids and the dog are enjoying the big backyard and the client is on a plan to meet many of her goals this year leading to self-sufficiency. It is with deepest gratitude that we acknowledge our family members in Christ - Pastors Todd and Ricky, as well as their church members in assisting Seneca with our client during an incredibly stressful time in her life.
