First Fruits Friday - In Christ She is Fulfilled

She wanted that relationship so bad. She wanted to be loved by a man. She felt like she needed a man. She longed for a two-parent household for her kids.

Her baby's father had busted her lip and called her names. She knew this was not OK. Yet, she stayed.

Slowly, she began to trust God with her life (she almost died during childbirth, but God spared her) and her relationship. The Lord revealed to her that she didn't need a man, she needed God. She heard in her soul, "Don't expect a man to fill your needs - expect God to." The Lord, Himself, filled her needs and helped her break the “soul-tie” to her baby’s father which she never thought could be broken.

God is able to do “amazingly and exceedingly more than all we can ask or imagine.” (Ephesians 3:20 paraphrase)

She came to understand that God had been providing all the good things she believed she was lacking in her life. “The love that I need right now is from God!!! He won’t hurt me, but will love me perfectly.”

This Seneca client is excited, happy, and becoming someone she has never been before - and it's all because of God's grace!

In pure honesty, this client admitted that she had been having sex as a coping mechanism. She realized that she should stop “fornicating.” As she now obeys God, she says that she is hearing God more clearly.

All of this conversation and scripture came about as I was meeting with this client for spiritual direction. When we are committed to following God’s ways and getting to know Him better through the Bible and prayer, He will give us peace and rest in Him, while allowing us to say “no” to temptation. Isn’t this what we all need?

In John 4, we read that Jesus revealed himself as the Messiah to “the woman at the well.” He offered her “living water” that would fill her every need - wholly, perfectly, and eternally.

John 4:14 “Whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

This client is so pleased with how God is working in her life that she asked, “What else does God have for me when I am walking in His favor?”

What else does God have for you as you are walking in His favor?

Seneca knows the eternal value of offering Spiritual Direction as part of our Case Management Program which is available to women for up to two years after their child is born. As we have personally experienced, lasting changes are made possible through God’s love, forgiveness, and grace. So, Seneca offers our clients the knowledge of the one true God and how to gain an eternal relationship with their Savior, Jesus.

Every week, I am so blessed and encouraged by our clients who are willing to be vulnerable with the Lord and honest with me. And I am so thankful that Seneca allows me to fill this role.

Is God calling you to serve at Seneca?
