First Fruits Friday - Working Together

Statistically, 73% of those getting abortions self-identify as Christians.

In our world, stress creates a mess. At Seneca, we see the clients during a crisis situation. It is  literally a life and death situation. The excuses given for an abortion are a facade of the root problem: a spiritual battle.

In the midst of crisis, many struggle to see the will of God in their unplanned pregnancy. How do we change the dialogue so that these parents understand that we serve the God of the impossible? A God who has overcome death, who can heal them and bring them new life along with THIS new life of their child? He can make a way when we don't even see it?

One question we may ask in Case Management is "What did God tell you about this situation? Do you have a spiritual basis?”

This opens the conversation to what is truly going on in their lives and in their hearts. Many times, there is unhealed trauma, an ongoing spiritual battle that has led to this life or death situation.

Our goal with these clients is to slow down and let God begin to change their circumstances. We assure them that it is not an accident that they needed up at Seneca during this crisis. We ask them if they will give us a chance to pray with them, work with them, and show them that their circumstances can change with a little help. Then we get to work!

We use their time in our Case Management Program to show the client that the current situation is NOT their destination. We help clients understand where they want to be. We have them imagine - What does the greatest me look like? What will it look like for everything to fall into place? We pray specific prayers and remind them of prayers answered.

We also know that suppression leads to depression; this is why we have a healing ministry. Our Grief to Grace is a healing retreat for those suffering from the wounds of abuse. Approximately 75% of the clients in our Case Management Program at Seneca have gone through abuse at some point in their lives. As they begin to heal from those wounds, Grace abounds in their lives and they can begin to believe us when we say:

“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love Him, to those who are called according to his purpose”
