First Fruits Friday - A Child Is Born
Unto us a child is born.
"Watching the ultrasound is what changed our minds," the couple said. This Ethiopian family already had three children and the husband was a professor at a local institution. They did not believe in abortion but felt that they could not afford another child. Yet the Women's Health Mobile Clinic staff asked a poignant question. The client stated, "I remember them asking me, "Who gives and takes life? If you do that (get an abortion) your relationship will be affected." The clinic staff spoke with the husband and the couple began to ask themselves, "How can we stand in front of God and do this? We are Christians but we have been wavering in our decision if the child must live or die."
The couple then entered Seneca and spoke to the case manager. They realized that they could care for another child. Over the next couple of months, the case manager stayed in touch via phone to ensure that the couple had all that they needed. She advised the mom to ask for a transfer with her company for an upcoming move to another state. She got the transfer and her husband got the job at the university. They got in touch with the pregnancy center in the new area and received gifts for the kids and resources for a healthy pregnancy and beyond. The case manager continued to check in, even after they were settled in a new state.
Just the other day, Seneca received the joyous news that a new baby boy had entered the world!
"We are excited to announce that our baby boy is born. Thank you very much for everything you did. We don’t have words to praise God. We named the baby Nicodemus. God gave me you (the mobile clinic and Seneca). He gave me another family for a reason."
