Seneca’s mission is to prevent unplanned pregnancy and make abortion unthinkable through prevention, intervention, and intercessory programs.
The women receiving abortions are not statistics. they are wives, girlfriends, daughters, granddaughters, sisters, cousins, and friends. They are our coworkers, fellow students, and churchgoers. They are women experiencing an unplanned pregnancy who consider abortion because they feel trapped, scared, and alone. They have immediate and long-term needs that must be addressed but feel they have no realistic resources available to obtain them.
Seneca exists to meet those needs.
Education is the key to reducing unplanned pregnancy and making abortion unthinkable. We must ask ourselves: "What are we doing today for the families who will be experiencing a crisis pregnancy tomorrow?" The most effective action we can take is providing education. Education programs include:
Reuniting procreation with sexual behavior
Affirming each individual's inherent value and dignity, including the unborn
Promoting healthy relationships Encouraging males and females to understand their own fertility, offering appropriate, age-based resources to answer questions.
Cultivating respect for marriage as between one man and one woman and chastity both within and outside of marriage.
Philippians 4:6-7 tells us. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Mother Theresa reminds us. "God doesn't call us to be successful, He calls us to be faithful."
"Not Forgotten" is Seneca's prayer team that disseminates specific prayer requests to our prayer warriors. We never should underestimate the extraordinary power of prayer. Through Him, all things are possible.
An unplanned pregnancy can turn into a crisis when expectant parents do not believe they have the resources or support necessary to successfully transition into parenthood. At Seneca, our goal is to meet the immediate and long term needs of families experiencing an unplanned pregnancy so they can provide a safe, healthy, and self-sustainable living environment for themselves and their child. Our aim is to meet the needs of families up to 18-24 months after the birth of the baby.
