First Fruits Friday - Rescued

Months ago, I saw a painting called "The Hand of God" which depicts Jesus reaching into the water to save Peter. All of us have difficult moments in our lives when we feel like we are sinking and we can't hold on any longer.  But God, with His merciful hand, is just there waiting for us to reach out to Him to save us.

One of our clients reached His hand.

After years of making bad decisions and getting into unhealthy relationships, a single mother decided to start her broken life over again and moved to Columbus, GA. Shortly after, she learned she was pregnant. Her mind was full of bad thoughts about ending her new baby’s life or ending her own life.  She felt she was not equipped to be a good mother and now she was pregnant again.  She was not even sure who her baby’s father was. The following week she made an abortion appointment.

When she was on the way to her appointment she felt broken-hearted. She did not believe in abortion but did not know what else to do. This mother prayed before leaving her apartment; she prayed for God to help her.  In that exact moment she decided to reach for His hand.

When she arrived at the clinic's parking lot she was approached by a sidewalk advocate from Seneca. They talked for over an hour.  Later, she told us she felt it was God who was talking to her, through the advocate. She did not go to that appointment.

For weeks after she continued to struggle with anxiety about the future, doubting her capability, and feeling weak over this enormous challenge. She started Case Management at Seneca and in her first meeting she was given a Bible.  She said reading her Bible during those difficult times helped to clear her mind of terrible thoughts and encouraged her when she felt defeated. Having started to set goals for her life, she is determined to get better and is ready to stand up and climb any mountain before her.

Her baby is due in just 6 weeks - it is a baby girl!  She already has a name for her baby. This name was written in heaven a long time ago. Her daughter is precious and truly a gift from God to her, and to this world.

Jesus loves this mama, He guided her, He protected her, and her baby, in the midst of danger.

Her story is not finished. One day, she will pass on her powerful story to someone who needs to know that on days when you don’t know how you are going to make it, God is looking out for you and will take care of you. But, above all else, His hand is there waiting for us to reach Him  and be saved.

If you want to bless this beautiful mama she has a registry at Amazon, Her due date is this coming March, God bless you all.
