First Fruits Friday - God Moments

At Seneca our staff and volunteers often have what we refer to as “God moments” on the sidewalk. While trying to minister to the women going into the abortion facility there are many times we encounter a situation that hits home for us, and we know that God placed us there in that moment for a reason. This week, Seneca Administrative Assistant Stephanie shares her God moment.

It was very early in the day when I was taking data as the ladies were coming in for their abortion appointments across the driveway.  One girl was walking toward the building of the abortion facility and I was able to engage her in conversation.  I told her we could see her in the mobile clinic for a free pregnancy test and ultrasound.  She smiled at me but continued to walk toward her scheduled appointment.  I continued to explain to her that we could tell her how far along she was and talk with her about all her options.  She looked at me and stopped.  She took her mask down and said I wouldn't understand because she had MS.  Little did she know, I knew exactly how she felt.  I, too, have MS.

Years ago I was also told by my doctor that another pregnancy was not in my best interest.  Sadly, my husband and I ended our fertility journey out of fear.  I did not want her to have similar regrets by taking the life of her baby.  We discussed this and how MS affects the body and pregnancy.  We were on a lot of the same medications, which was another concern she had about carrying a child.

After talking for a few minutes, she walked back to her car and waited inside for her appointment.  I prayed that she was too far along or for her to have courage and a change of heart.  Sadly, she ultimately kept her abortion appointment.

When she came out, I shared it wasn't too late, told her about the Abortion Pill Reversal and I told her God does not make mistakes.  This baby is certainly not a mistake.

She knew that I did, indeed, understand.  I pray that she somehow finds strength through our shared moment.

But, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head, Christ.
