First Fruits Friday - Prayer
One of the greatest joys that we have at Seneca is to pray with our clients. Since it is our mission to “make abortion unthinkable through prayer, intervention, and prevention,” we spend a lot of time praying with mamas. Sometimes, it is for their new baby's birth, maybe an overwhelming situation, or perhaps a renewed relationship with Christ. Many of our clients are Christian, but their relationship with Christ has been put on the backburner or they’ve never developed a persistent discipline of prayer, worship, reading the bible, etc. Some have experienced church hurt and will no longer attend worship services.
One way that we connect our clients to a church family is through volunteer church liaisons. A church member will meet with the client before a worship service, sit with them, introduce them to the pastor and staff and give them a tour. They also show them how they can participate in small groups, bible studies, etc. If you would like to be a church liaison for your church, please contact Karen.
Another way that we encourage a relationship with Jesus is through one on one spiritual direction. Our volunteer advocate will listen to the client's current spiritual status and guide them into a deeper relationship with our Lord through bible study, prayer, worship songs and Christian books.
Some churches offer Embrace Grace - a bible study for pregnant moms that ends with a baby shower for all. This set curriculum is easy to use and the non-profit shares all of the videos, books, instructional manuals for a low cost. It is a support group as well as a bible study.
Prayer is the reason why we know that women walk out of the abortion facility and walk into our doors. After our Sidewalk Advocates speak with the women and we see them walk into the abortion facility, the group prays for that individual. We know it is the Holy Spirit that is working at that time.
But that is only the beginning. Our team covers each woman that we encounter with prayer before and after we meet them. We pray for their healing, their families, their relationships, their goals, their health, and their faith.
If you would like to journey with a mom through her spiritual development as a church liaison, please contact Karen. Additionally, join the national response to Post-Roe America with Standing with Her, a church virtual outreach opportunity on August 28th at 8pm!!
We also firmly believe that if every church in our community were to host a Embrace Grace Bible Study many more moms would feel confident in their life choice! We are challenging you to explore this amazing opportunity and start a group today at your church! We are all called to be the body of Christ, especially to the least among us, the unborn in their mother’s womb. Let us each do our parts to respond in kind to the gift God has given us in reversing Roe and give Him the glory by activating our lives and our churches for those who need him now more than ever!
2 Peter 3:18
18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.
