First Fruits Friday - A Father's Prayer

A Father's Prayer.png

“For I have chosen him, so that he will direct his children and his household after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just..” Genesis 18:19

It is not often to see men at Seneca, especially the father of the babies. Many of them do not want to be involved once they find out that the mother chose life. But on one cold day in December, a young man who had been abandoned by his own mother, chose to stand beside the mother of his twins...yes twins.

The couple spent time at Seneca looking for jobs and meeting with a client advocate on setting up a life plan. Due to COVID, both had lost their jobs, were behind on their utility bills, and the heat had been turned off. They also are behind on their rent. Seneca referred them to social service agencies. Please keep them in your prayers. They are motivated but have hit upon some hard times.

What was refreshing and revealing was a prayer that we found written by this young father. Even in the midst of darkness for this couple, his faith in our Father abounds. This young Dad inspires us and even makes us cry with humility on his gracious faithfulness.

 A Father’s Prayer

God, help us as we go through this pandemic.

Help the ones who need helping and help the ones who do not.

God, I leave everything in your hands because without you, father, we are nothing.

I will continue to praise you through the good, bad, ugly and worse. You are my father, and I love you.

Bring peace to the world, and give me knowledge and understanding. Guide me as we walk down the path of righteousness.

Keep me protected in your arms and safe.

Help me spread your word to those who don't know it, and help me and my lady get through this.

In your name, Amen.

Please pray for this couple as they head into the holiday season amidst so much uncertainty, much like Mary and Joseph awaiting the birth of Jesus. If you would like to support them in some way, please contact monica@senecacfl.org
